Commercial Electrician
Job Summary:
Perform service to businesses and other commercial locales. Often working in public environments.
The work of a commercial electrician often varies with each project. The commercial electrician will approach each of them according to their respective buildings.
Commercial electricians are experienced in providing service to a variety of sites, often with very different schematics. Therefore, they often liaise with electrical contractors and building managers to ensure that the work best suits the venue being serviced.

- Schools, colleges, and universities
- Offices
- Hotels
- Leisure facilities
- Restaurants, cafés, and bars
- Shopping malls
- Libraries
- Shops
- Government buildings
- Theatres, cinemas, and other entertainment venues
- Museums
- Various businesses
Responsibilities:
- Installation and maintenance of wiring and electrical components
- Performing safety checks on electrical units to ensure they meet regulation standards
- Troubleshooting electrical or wiring issues
- Repairing broken or faulty electrical equipment
- Making, reading, and evaluating technical plans and drawings
- Designing plans for new electrical installations
- On-site training of apprentices
- Leading and coordinating teams on a given project
Job Qualifications and Skills:
- Drug free always
- Ability to follow electrical code manuals to install and repair electrical systems.
- Experience working with hand tools power tools, electronic test equipment.
- Strong knowledge of job site safety as well as ability to complete a company specific safety orientation.
- High standard of integrity and professionalism
- Excellent Customer Service
- Proficient in the use of test meters and other diagnostic equipment.
- Proven experience as an electrician
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Valid driver’s license
- Understanding safety procedures and legal codes and guidelines
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Good time management
- Detailed documentation into software to provide for customer invoices.
- 2-3 years residential, commercial, or industrial electrical experience.
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to follow instructions given on work orders.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to see color to discern color-coded wiring.
- Prolonged periods, standing, kneeling, bending, climbing ladders or scaffolding.
- Must be able to physically capable of pulling wires and cables.
- Must be able to lift to 50 pounds at a time.
